From Perez Hilton's site:
"The announcement that Olympic champ Michael Phelps will be whoring Kellogg's Frosted Flakes instead of the traditional athlete's choice of Wheaties has left many perplexed and angered.
Frosted Flakes has three times the amount of sugar as Wheaties and 1/3rd the fiber.
Phelps is now being criticized by health experts who are worried about the message he'll be sending to children across America.
Nutritionist Rebecca Solomon of New York's Mount Sinai Medical Center says, "I would not consider Frosted Flakes the food of an Olympian. I would rather see him promoting Fiber One. I would rather see him promoting oatmeal. I would even rather see him promoting Cheerios.""
Well guess what people? Phelps IS an Olympian and happens to eat Frosted Flakes hence: breakfast of an olympian.
Maybe people, instead of teaching children just to eat properly, teach them that with proper exercise comes the opportunity to eat foods such as Frosted Flakes. Sure if you have a kid that plays video games all day, then cutting out foods like Frosted Flakes is necessary, but if you have a kid that actually DOES stuff like normal children once did...then you can on occasion afford to treat them to a sugary delightful breakie- no?
OR how about THIS concept- that parents, not children, buy the groceries. Hence, as a parent, you find yourself offended by the image of an Olympian on a box of sugary cereal- don't buy the sugary cereal. As an adult you should be able to overcome the allure of a horse-faced, medal clad Swimmer and make the proper food choice for your likely over-weight child (slimfast or wheaties, whatever). If your fat kid says to you while in the cereal isle "I want Frosted Flakes because my hero is on that box" you can follow up with "no- you are going to have plain Cheerios". Fatty will respond something like "but he's an Olympian and if he's on the box then it must be good for me" and then responsible parent says "yes but the key here is that he is an Olympian and runs and swims and lifts weights everyday for 5 hours whereas you are fat and play video games all day and sneak chips and chocolate from your friend's kitchen so until you start doing the same- you will eat plain Cheerios"......result: fat kid starts exercising and gets Frosted Flakes or fat kid eats plain Cheerios and then eats half a pie at Grandma's place while he/she plays final fantasy 4.

Almost Like a "likes/dislikes" Questionnaire
I have only but a few comments I wish to make this afternoon....
1. Holmes on Holmes has effectively resulted in my inability to live in a home without Mike Holmes' stamp of approval....thanks HGTV.
2. In reference to the recent beheading upon a Greyhound bus in Winnipeg- why must the media refer to the accused as "a recent immigrant"? Li has been in Canada for 5 years, surely enough time to have acclimatized enough to learn that beheading is not something we here in Canada promote, surely enough time to realize that Canadians do not generally behave in such a manner as that demonstrated last week by Li. No, after 5 years, the man can only be refered to as a Canadian- let's not put the blame on the the fact that he was at one point a resident of China as it is of no bearing in this situation. Regardless of my feelings towards Canada's immigration system, continuously referring to Li as a "recent Chinese immigrant" only breeds negative feelings towards those Canadians who were once residents of another country. Let's face it- that this man was of Chinese decent originally born in China is senseless. The fact of the matter is- this Li fellow is a sick individual who should be prevented from coming into contact with anyone in any society at all times. Our Canadian system failed him and ourselves when the psychiatric program he recently entered before the incident released him back into the public after 4 days
(Google "Pierre Trudeau"). Now Canada's only concern should be to keep this man away from all others at all costs.
3. Edmonton seems to have designated the title "historic" to a number of buildings throughout the city- Canada is only 130-some years old, Alberta is only 100? Maybe? I'm sorry but that is not historic and these buildings are gross and falling apart...I could see if they were of great architect or of great quality, but they are not...I prefer to see pretty buildings, energy efficient buildings (no not to save the polar bears but rather to save me some taxes), and build them well so in like, 400 years they are still standing pretty and still serving a purpose.
4. Stop chewing gum- outside of the sorbital content that makes you shit to lose weight, there is no reason for it...I can't believe how disgusting some people look when they have gum in their mouth- chomping away like a sloppy fool (girl being interviewed on Shaw Cable- that means YOU). I admit I do it *smack smack*, and I hate that I do. I guess if you can promise me to chew quietly with your mouth closed then it's ok-so long as you ALSO promise me that it will not end up on the ground or under some chair/table.
5. A group of assholes travel to China to protest for a Free Tibet- Buddy Steve Anderson gets sent home to Canada after his stupid stunt. At the airport upon his arrival he rolls out a giant banner "Free Tibet" and waves a Tibetian flag then says to the news reporters something along the lines of "I think it really highlights what the Chinese authorities are willing to do to silence people," and "everyone has a right to freedoms of speech and religion"...actually Steve Anderson- they do not...in Communist China the authorities appear to have the right to silence anyone who goes against the Government's status quo....that is why living in Canada is such a treat- we are allowed to speak out mind, worship out Gods and fight for our beliefs. Steve Anderson seems to be under the impression that this right extends across borders to other countries when in fact he is wrong- It is China's perrogative to govern as it will....Steve should maybe focus on some of the atrocities that happen here in his own country rather than impose his beliefs on others abroad. Meanwhile douche bag Mike Hudema- a professional protestor regardless of cause is suprised when his room is ransacked by Chinese authorities. They had been planning to speak out within the next couple of days, but at that point- had done "nothing illegal". Oh there poor victems of Chinese aggression and abuse of power! They were all tucked in asleep in their beds and then for no reason are invaded and sent home!??! Goodness! The horrors! The truth of the matter is that you morons are dissenters in a country that does not tolerate it (Again- hail Canada where we breed a culture that takes our freedoms and rights for granted so much so that we lose sight of just how it is in other countries). Mike Hudema should stick to climbing rafters on the behalf of GreenPeace in his own country that actually tolerates his stupidity- he should be greatful this is new China and that he is not in some Chinese prison or that he still has all 10 fingers.
*Not to say what is happening in Tibet is acceptable, but it is what it is and Tibetians and the Chinese along with the support of the UN (or at least not idealistic frantic wingding groups like "Students for a Free Tibet") need to work it out- there is no room for a handful of white guys from another continent waving flags and embarassing themselves).- oh the controversy
